Hike Cameroon Mountains
The Cameroon volcanic line is a 1,600 km chain of volcanoes. It ranges from islands in the Gulf of Guinea , Mount Cameroon, and western Cameroon and along the border region of eastern Nigeria to Lake Chad area. The Cameroon volcanic line extends through both Ocean and the continental crust and its geologically unusual. The Cameroon volcanic line consist of Six offshore volcanic swells that have formed islands while on the mainland it starts with Mt Cameroon towards the northeast (Western highlands). The western high plateaus is home to the Cameroon highland forest and consist of Volcanic swells inland like Mt Kupe, Mt Oku 3,011m, Mt Mbapit 1,988m, Mt Manengouba 2,411m and Mt Bamboutu 2,679m. This western grassfields also features many crater lakes being created as a result of water filling dead volcanoes. Some of these lakes include Lake Mfou on Mt Mbapit, Lake Barombi Mbo in Kumba, Manengouba twin lakes on Mt Manengouba, lake Awing, Lake Dschang and more.
This area is also an important watershed for Cameroon because of its high rainfall and relief.

Requirements to Participate:
- This is a private tour, so only your group will participate.
- Open to age groups of 15-60 years old.
- Travellers must be physically fit.
- Available between the months of October-May.
- Not available for travellers with serious medical conditions, those on wheelchair, pregnant women and travellers with back problems.
Notes:
- Please bring a good pair of hiking boots, a flash light.
- Warm clothing and rain gear is advised, as the weather and climbing conditions can change at any moment.
- A strong level of fitness is required for the trek and a walking stick is recommended

- Day 1; Arrival at the Douala international airport, departure for the Hotel Saffana in Douala. Check in and preparations for the tour.

- Day 2; Douala-Baffoussam-Foumban
We depart Douala passing through many plantations of Palms, rubber, pineapples, Paw paw and many more. We stop in Melong for Lunch and later drive to Baffoussam and then the town of Foumban. We visit the Sultan Place (Foumban palace). Foumban is ruled by a sultan and they have one of the best museums in Cameroon. We shall also visit the Foumban craft market. We check in at Hotel Pekasse De Karche in Foumban.

- Day 3; Mt Mbapit(1988m)-Bandjoun Palace- Mbouda
After breakfast we depart Foumban for the town of Foumbot to hike Mt Mbapit (1,988M), there is a Lake Mfou which is located close to the summit. We later descend and drive to visit the Chiefdom of Bandjoun and its beautiful museum. We drive to the town of Mbouda and check into the Hotel.

- Day 4; Mt Bamboutu(2,679m)-Metche Waterfall- Melong(Mbouroukou)
After breakfast we start the hike of Mt Bambouto 2,679m. After the hike we shall drive back to Baffoussam with a stop at Metche waterfalls. We then continue to the town of Melong where we check into Hotel Villa Luciole and spend the night.

- Day 5; Mount Manengouba(2,420m)-Twin Lakes(2,211M)
Breakfast early in the morning and we drive to the start point of the hike on Mt Manengouba 2,420m. We hike up neither to the Twin lakes up the mountain or to the summit. it’s surrounded by rolling hills, lush vegetation and smoky skies and there are some cattle raring at its savannah slopes. There is a Female and a male lake, the female is in the shape of the African map and its water appears blue. The male lake which is beside the female lake, its water is green in color. This green male lake is landlocked and smaller. The hike is usually 4 hours and 3 hours descending. We shall descend back to Melong and stay for another night at Villa Luciole resort..

- Day 6; Melong-Douala-Buea(Foot of Mt Cameroon)
After breakfast we shall depart Melong for the town of Buea which is found at the foot of Mt Cameroon 4100m. Acclimatization and preparation for the hike. We check into hotel Capitol Buea

- Day 7; Buea-Mount Cameroon National Park
We will drive to the Upper Farms (elevation: 1015m) where we start the hike through the forest to Hut #1 (1725m and 4km trek) and onto the Savannah. From here we hike to Hut #2 (elevation: 2825m 6.5km trek).
*Accommodation: A night at Fako mountain lodge Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Distance: Upper Farms to Hut #2 is 6.5km
- Day 8: Mount Cameroon National Park, Hut #2-Summit-Mann’s Spring camp
After breakfast, we hike to hut #3 (elevation: 3760m) where we will have lunch. On the way towards the summit, we will pass the crater of the May 2000 eruption. At the summit (elevation: 4095m), we will have an opportunity to take some pictures. After, we will descend to the other side of the mountain to Camp #2 (elevation: 3420m). The entire trail is made up of volcanic black sand from the summit. From Camp #2 to Camp #1. The impressive March 1999 eruption craters are only a few hundred meters away. We will then descend for Mann’s spring camp (elevation: 2440m), which is at the start of the forest.
*Accommodation: A night at Mann’s spring lodge. Meals: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner. Distance: From hut #2 to summit is 4.4km and from the summit to Mann’s Spring Camp is 12.1km descend. Total 16.5km
- Day 9: Mount Cameroon National Park(Mann’s spring camp to Buea)
After breakfast, we start our descent from Mann’s spring to the Savannah. We will trek through the dense forest to Bokwoango village (elevation: 950m) passing through farms owned by locals who cultivate coco yam (used for preparing “kwa-coco” a staple food for the Bakweri tribe who inhabit this region). Arrival in Buea, you will be transported to the seaside resort town of Limbe. We check into Tsaben beach hotel Limbe where you relax at the beach.

- Day 10; Relaxation at the Limbe Black sand beach and departure
Relaxation at the beach and later departure to the Douala International airport.
